King Midnight, the inspiration for this middle grade book, is a cat who abounds in self-confidence, bravery, kindness, and has a vivid imagination. Midnight, or the king (as he prefers to be called) is loyal to his boy, Phillip, and his family, and loves to share his words of wisdom, also known as Royal Remarks, with readers.

His encounters with Jerry the Gecko are legendary. Jerry manages to organize the gecko gang which results in complete chaos. But have no fear, King Midnight, comes through and teaches us moral values, compassion, loyalty, love, laughter, and the importance of family.
